Application of Risk Management of Commercial Banks was effective on 1 January 2004, and requiring that all national banks, regional cooperatives and branches of foreign banks in Indonesia must implement the rules set by Bank Indonesia. Since its higher activity of banking business, it has become a reason to implement the application of risk management.
While the notion of risk itself according to Bank Indonesia is a potential risk on occurrence of an event leading to bank losses and risk management through appropriate procedures and methodologies that used to identify, measure, monitor and control risks arised from banking business (PBI, NO 5 / 8/PBI/2003). The risks applied by commercial banks is credit risk, market, liquidity, operational, legal, reputation, strategic and compliance.
The lending process from application to payment at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Unit Semarang Sampangan are done through several stages of application , credit analysis and approval decision based to existing standard procedures of PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Unit Sampangan Semarang. In order to identify the operational risk at PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Unit Sampangan Semarang, it used methods of loss events, while the measurement of operational risk used Poisson methods.
From the measurement, it was yielded that probability of an operational risk in the credit department is medium risk of 14.79% - 39.35%, and having a medium levels of risk impact. Therefore, Bank Rakyat Indonesia Unit Semarang Sampangan should try to decrease the risk in order preventing its escalation. In response to operational risk, that applied by PT. Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. Unit Sampangan Semarang, it was to avoid operational risk, operational risk, and monitor operational risk. To maintain the operational risk, it is done by two ways that is controling and reducing operational risks.
