Business Sustainability in Women Entrepreneurship: A Qualitative Exploration of Work–Family Conflict = Business Sustainability in Women Entrepreneurship: A Qualitative Exploration of Work–Family Conflict

Danendra Rafi Harnoko - Nama Orang; Iwan Hermawan - Nama Orang; Nur Rini - Nama Orang;

Business sustainability among women entrepreneurs is a strategic issue in entrepreneurship development. Entrepreneurship in the context of women entrepreneurs still rarely explores how family responsibilities often intersect with business activities, making the concept of work-family conflict an unavoidable issue. This conflict reflects time constraints, role demands, pressures, and the need to adapt behavior when carrying out the roles of entrepreneur and mother in the household. This becomes a crucial issue regarding the ability of women entrepreneurs to maintain, grow, and adapt their businesses. This study aims to explore how women entrepreneurs develop business aspirations through their experiences in managing work-family conflict and to identify the capabilities and resources that enable them to maintain business sustainability. A qualitative approach was used, utilizing a case study design with thematic analysis of data obtained from in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that women entrepreneurs' business aspirations are not solely shaped by their ability to manage aspects of the business but emerge from the integration of personal competencies, entrepreneurial adaptability, network access, and the ability to manage work and family demands. Personal competencies are the foundation of entrepreneurial agility, enabling women entrepreneurs to respond to change, capitalize on opportunities, and sustain their businesses under pressure. Simultaneously, the ability to build network access provides the resources, information, and experience necessary for business growth. This study concluded that business sustainability for women entrepreneurs is a process of women developing competencies in reducing work-family conflict, fostering entrepreneurial agility, and building networking skills.
