The work discipline of the employees in a company is very important since it will accelerate the company's goals achievement. Work Discipline will tell us what the company is like. Without discipline, the employee will act at will. Therefore, the goals of the company which have previously been set out will not be achieved in a proper and smooth way.
The purpose of this study is to know the implementation of employees’ work discipline, the obstacles encountered, and the ways to overcome the obstacles of employees’ work discipline at the Department of Production at PT Phapros, Tbk Semarang.
This final project used descriptive method. The collection of the data was done through observations, interviews, and literature study. Source of data used
were primary and secondary data. The type of data used were qualitative and
quantitative data. The employees have received the company’s rules clearly informed by the company. If these rules are violated, then the disciplinary action will be taken in the form of sanctions Reprimand, Warning Letter I, Warning Letter II, Warning Letter III, Suspensions, and layoffs. The obedient and achieving employees will get appreciation from the company, and the best obedient and achieving employees will be awarded with cash money, plaques, certificates, and the increase of merit achievement points.
The result of the research showed that during 2012 there were breach of the permit out of office hours in production department which exceed the
provisions, as well as 14% out of the average number of the employees which
amounted 219 employees, still came late to work.
The Implementation of employees’ discipline in the company was experiencing various barriers such as weakness surveillance of human behavior,
dishonesty and work delay. The ways taken to overcome these obstacles were Chairman of Human Resource department along with the management executed
direct evaluation toward the employees’ discipline, re-socialize regulations, as well as to provide guidance to employees.
The suggestions for employees’ discipline at PT Phapros production
department, Semarang Tbk were enhancing of personal awareness toward the work disciplin through routine duties and developing sense of belonging for the sake of building the company together, and the need for regular training and
socialization to the problema of employees’discipline.
