The protective system of equipment that use electricity as an energy source of electric current surges caused by lightning is called grounding system or grounding system. (PUIL, 2000). The purpose of this experiment is to know the reduction of the grounding resistivity with using metal sheet electrode which is placed horizontally dan the soil treatment which is placed above the metal sheet electrode. This experiment do at behind the machine workshop at State Polytechnic of Semarang in 15th June 2015 until 8th July 2015. The type of the soil is clayey and dried (it is not in rain condition and also not in watering). Kind of the electrode that used as the main electrode is metal sheet electrode. This experiment use special technique for soil treatment by using the mix of gypsum and carbon which is placed above the metal sheet electrode. This experiment use three-point methode. The best composition of soil treatment is 1,5 kg gypsum:0,5 kg carbon rather than 0,5 kg gypsum:0,5 kg carbon and 0,5 kg gypsum:1,5 kg carbon. Because the grounding resistivity is 78,1 Ω.
